Many employees have struggled to utilise annual leave allowances due to COVID-19 travel restrictions and boarder closures. Singaporeans have taken to exploring their own backyard, with hotels seeing a spike in local bookings over the past year. This is in part due to a government initiative to support hoteliers with a staycation stimulus package worth S$45 million.
Some unused leave may be able to be carried forward, depending on company policy. And with vaccination rates rising around the world, 2022 looks to be a more promising year of international travel, with companies already in talks about travel bubbles, green lanes, and loosing of restrictions for vaccinated travellers.

*Public holidays falling on a Saturday should be provided as days-in-lieu, to be utilised at any point throughout the holiday year. An exception is if Saturday is an employees usual working day, in which case, the Saturday will be an off day.
